I have kept this picture because it was taken at the
celebration for my aunt’s wedding in the winter on 1956 in Baghdad. I used to be
very close to my aunt; it was as if she was actually my mother. I was
upset by her getting married because I thought it would take her away
from me – and I look it in the photo.
As for the booklet of appeals, my other aunt who was a hajjiya (had
made the pilgrimage to Mecca) gave it to me in 1978.
