A Family Tree (Unusually) Including Women

ourlife62

This is the actual paper on which I wrote down the information dictated to me by my father, Haj Nu’man, about my large family – both close and far relatives. You will notice that women’s names are mentioned. This is rare because women’s names are not usually noted in family trees and genealogical lists. You can see that the names of the women are complete – so, for example, there is Qamriya Bint (the daughter of) Ibrahim Abdul Wahid and Samiya Bint Haj Mohammed. There is also the story of Haj Mohammed. He went as a pilgrim to Mecca with 7 other people from Al A’dhamiya (an old district of Baghdad). This was in 1903. There are nice detailed descriptions of the trip to Mecca.

KHALED NU’MAN, born 1939, left Iraq 1957 to study in Stockton-On-Tees
He last visited Iraq in 1976
