Photographs I look at and remember Iraq
I enlarged a group of photographs and hung them on my living room wall.
They were taken by Nathim Ramzi (a famous Iraqi photographer). I look
at them and see Iraq present, right there in front of me.

Blue and White Plate
My children ate their first meals off this plate when we lived in Kerbala.
Our house overlooked the courtyard of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein.
My brother is in Abu Ghraib prison (in the suburbs of Baghdad). On my
last visit, he hugged me so hard he left a mark on my shoulder for weeks
afterwards
